Wish Upon A Star began in 1985 when co-founders Carolyn Pfaffmann and Carl Wallce got together to discuss how they could help Jamie Petty a local child who had recently been diagnosed with a life-threatening illness.  Jamie had a dream of visiting Walt Disney World in Florida so that she could meet Mickey Mouse.  Thanks to the efforts of Carolyn, Carl, and supporters from our community Jamie's wish came true.  It was through the experience of making Jamie's dream come true that Wish Upon A Star was born.

Today our organization is a locally based non-profit based in Evansville Indiana.  Our mission is to provide wishes to children between the ages of 3 and 18 who have been diagnosed with a life threatening or terminal illness. We limit the area of our service to Southern Indiana, Southeastern Illinois and Western Kentucky, this allows us to proudly let our supporters know their donations are helping make dreams come true for children in our area.

    As an independent non-profit agency with no national affiliations we rely soley on the support of our community to make wishes come true.  Currently we receive donations through private and corporate gifts, in-kind goods and services, grants and foundation gifts.  To date more than 220 wishes have been granted to tri-state children through our organization.
